Cut a few logs out of the Salmo River today that had fallen in over the winter.  Want to get those things outa there before the rafting season starts, and it was a fun thing to do on a rainy Saturday in the West Kootenays.

Next weekend is looking sunny and warm.  Not long until the Salmo is up to a great level for rafting (35+ cubic metres per second).  Until then kayaking is where it's at.

Yesterday was the first commercial rafting trip of the season.  Everyone had a blast.  Big whitewater at this time of year, and the trip was sold out.  A couple of people brought their mom's along, and it seems they liked it the most!

The guides went out kayaking on the rafting run yesterday evening.  What a pleasant Sunday excursion. This morning it was time to check out the kayaking on the Upper Salmo River.  Beautiful sunny day, cold clear water & a class 3+ canyon."

We had one of the best trips ever rafting the Salmo River on Saturday.  Beautiful sunny weather, great river level and we ran smooth lines down the river hitting huge waves soaking everyone.  All the guests were super stoked on the trip.  Then the Canucks won!

This weekend we had full trips Saturday and Sunday.  Such great rafting so far this season.  During the spring  run off the Salmo Shenango Canyon has some of the best whitewater in BC.  The 11km run provides great excitement and finishes with a gentle float into the Pend Oreille River reservoir.  The huge winter snowpack has provided great water levels this season!

A few rafters fell in the drink today at banditos - a wave in the last rapid.  They were quickly pulled in and the dunk seemed to make their day!  It was caught on camera and they all bought the photo cd!  The Salmo flows into a calm reservoir, so the last rapid is a good place for whitewater rafting action.

The river level is looking great for the weekend.  We've got three sold out trips.  Next scheduled trip with available space is Canada Day July 1.  What an awesome start to the 2011 rafting season!

Tomorrow will be our first trip of the season on the Slocan River.  Right now it's flowing at 400 cubic metres per second and the waves in the Facchina Rapids are gonna be huge!  The rafting this past weekend was awesome on the Salmo and the whitewater season on the Salmo Shenango Canyon is going to be weeks longer than normal this season.  SWEEEEEET!

I can't think of any better things to do on our nations birthday than whitewater rafting on the Salmo River.  Friday was so awesome.  We had back to back rafting trips with beautiful sunny weather, great water levels, a fun guiding crew and excellent guests.

Rafting the last two weeks has been excellent.  High water on the Slocan River Facchina Rapids run, beautiful clear water on the Salmo River Shenango Canyon whitewater trip and great weather.  One of our threepet guests said today he enjoyed rafting the low water on the Shenango Canyon even more than the high water!  Dodging boulders and getting soaked at the weir drop.  Fabulous!

Three of the guides went out kayaking on the Salmo last night, and it was one of the best whitewater sessions of the season. So, beautiful and we bbq'd smokies at the take out!

Last thursday was out last whitewater trip down the Shenango Canyon of the season. The guests had a great time, and so is everyone coming out rafting on the Slocan River Facchina Rapids whitewater trip. The Slocan River is flowing at 250 cubic metres of water per second the same level it was at in the end of the June last year!  We've got huge waves and warm water out there right now.

We our having the best weather of the summer so far, and the whitewater trips were a huge hit over the long weekend. One more month of rafting left on the Slocan River before the best mountain biking season of the year hits in the fall.

The hot weather took a long time to arrive and we still have 30 degree temperatures.  Amazing for time of year and our guests have been loving the swims in the warm water and deep pools of the Slocan River. The Facchina Rapids are providing good whitewater thrills and the 'rodeo game' is getting everyone in the water!

Today is our last rafting trip of the season. It's been a great year for Nelson Whitewater Rafting. High water and tons of fun on the Salmo River from May 20 to July 21, and huge waves on the Slocan River Facchina Rapids Whitewater Trips during the high water season too! The hot weather in the second half of the summer treated us to many great days on the river swimming in the warm water of the Slocan and getting our guests in the drink by playing the Rodeo Game!

There's big talk about another 'La Nina' winter, and that's just fine with us. Most of our guides and staff enjoy the snow and the mountains in the winter, and that will mean another great high water season next year. Gift certificates are available for Christmas or Birthdays.
